Joël is an architect, researcher and community builder whose career has been shaped by a strong interest in public policy, placemaking, and the critical dialogue between the architectural profession and the public. Never one to say no to an interesting opportunity, his work spans the gamut from traditional architectural practice to articles, exhibitions, tours, lectures and more. In 2024, Joël was named a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada in recognition of his contributions to the profession and his role in promoting public awareness on the impact of design in everyday life.
Joel is the Executive Director for the Toronto Society of Architects, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of architecture in the Greater Toronto Area. During his time at the TSA he has led the development of new initiatives and programs, as well as the modernization of administrative systems to support the Society’s growing membership and reach. In addition to this role, Joël is the co-founder of Make Good Projects, a Toronto-based architecture and story-telling practice committed to building a better city one project at a time.
